Tachometer

A tachometer is a device for measuring and displaying speed. Non-contact laboratory tachometers measure centrifuges, pumps, rollers, shafts, gears, motors and moving surfaces by directing a beam of light at self-adhesive reflective marks and recording the number of revolutions. Contact tachometers measure in a similar manner, but with the difference that the rotating surface contacts the tip or measuring wheel of the instrument.
